And when they’ve told you to your face that they don’t care, it might be best to reassess their importance in your life. Know your worth and value and don’t let people beat you into the ground with words.

I try not to bother with such people. I do confess I have always tried in the past to fit in, be one of the crowd, be thought worthy. But truth be known, I’m not one of them and never will be. One must be happy in one’s own company, if not, then one can never find happiness it the company of others.
I was referring to friends and family, as opposed to “people” on a whole. I think when you’re young (under 20), you might try to focus more on “fitting in”, but I never did. I’m not a joiner, a “yes person”, and I’m definitely not a people-pleaser. In this, we are all different based on upbringing and backgrounds.
The majority of my family sucks, so I get where you’re coming from. I don’t care if I’m the black sheep. I wasn’t born to be a follower, not in my daily life and certainly not when dealing with family. Drama doesn’t change who I am.
