I don’t even have to read the article to know that statement is true.
I can’t do multiple things at the same time anymore. My brain is incapable – whether because of the pain or my meds – to focus on more than one thing.
For me, it depends on the severity. I’m sitting here with a 10 scale migraine, which is more like a 50 for me, but I’m trying to decompress, so I’m responding to messages. More than than, I’m really not capable of at the moment.
I was making myself some dinner earlier and having a conversation by text with a friend. I forgot that I had put a pot of water on the stove to boil pasta. A lot of the water had evaporated by the time I remembered.
That’s how bad it is for me right now. Unfortunately I keep trying to act as I used to when I was well, which was probably not the right way for anybody to live because I was always busy and moving fast from task to task or place to place.
I hope your migraine eases soon
I walk away from the stove OFTEN, and it got to the point where I’d forget I was cooking at all. I started setting a timer on my microwave to remind me to come back and check on things or I’d burn the damn house down. I now have to remain in the kitchen or the living room, otherwise I will go upstairs and forget all about it, unless I’m truly focused on my task. It’s really pathetic, but I know what you mean. I am sure many of us forged ahead as if nothing was wrong for way too long.
